Mozart Geburtshaus

Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart was born on January 27, 1756 in the "Hagenauer Haus" at Getreidegasse 9.

Mozart spent his childhood and youth in an apartment on the third floor of this house. He lived here with his parents Leopold and Anna Maria and with his sister Nannerl.

The International Mozarteum Foundation opened a museum in this building back in 1880. Today, visitors can find out interesting facts about Mozart and his life in the 18th century on three floors. The collection includes letters, documents, paintings, musical instruments and various everyday objects. The passage takes about an hour.

Mozart's birthplace is one of the most visited museums in Austria.
The museum is open daily from 9am to 5.30pm, in July and August from 8.30am to 7pm. Guided tours on request.
